If you are tying to  motivate  your  employees  by just throwing money at them and using it to resolve any issue, then you are making one of the biggest mistakes in managing your workforce.  Motivating  your workforce means you need to equip your  employees  with the things they need in order to carry out their responsibilities well. Below are tips on how you can effectively turn your workers into  motivated   employees .

Set Realistic Goals

Without challenging goals to accomplish, the work of your employees becomes uninspiring and boring. To prevent this from happening, you need to set clear, challenging and realistic goals for your employees. Conduct performance appraisals and take time to sit down with your employees for deliberation. Make sure you are able to discuss with them the goals you have previously established.

Setting realistic and challenging goals can push your employees to maximize their full potential. Often times, subordinates feel unmotivated because they find their jobs boring and uninteresting. You must delegate tasks that are challenging yet realistic. Make sure you involve them in decision making tasks for these will challenge them even more.

Recognize the Efforts of your Employees

Motivating  your  employees  includes recognizing their performance and contribution. Unfortunately, many managers don’t realize the significance of recognition in the workplace. Studies show that praised behaviors are likely to produce positive outcomes on the employee’s performance.

In order to  motivate  your  employees , managers and leaders must learn how to value their employees’ contribution. Below are some techniques that managers can use in recognizing their employees.

· Engage in casual conversations

· Praise them publicly

· Write them thank you notes

· Greet them daily

· Acknowledge their contributions during company meetings

Communicate Effectively

Giving feedback to your employees is one way to identify the problems and solutions within the business. According to experts, one way to  motivate  your  employees  is to communicate with them effectively. You have to make sure that you communicate pertinent information regarding the company’s operations. Allow them to express their views and opinions and make valuable contributions to the company.

In many instances, employees feel confused about their responsibilities in the company. Before you start setting performance goals, make sure you inform your employees what is expected of them. Clear communication of expected outcome should be made prior to conducting performance appraisals. If you are clear with your instructions and expectations then your  employees  are likely to feel  motivated  in performing their individual responsibilities.
